Performance Week Is Coming…Be Prepared
March 6 – March 13
Curtis Theater in Brea
- Check the calendar for your child’s schedule, different roles may have to arrive at different times.
- Park in underground parking for the Curtis Theater and walk your child to the front of the theater to check them in, please be on time and wait with your child, DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR CHILD, you MUST walk them in for safety reasons.
- Send your child with a backpack with water, homework, books, activities, or simple games that are quiet, there will be down-time for most cast members
- Make sure your child is wearing a mask
- NO Food or drinks other than water
- NO Electronics
- NO makeup in backpacks
- Make sure anything they bring is labeled with their name
- Cast members can be picked up by an adult at the front door of the theater at dismissal, please be on time
- Make sure kids are well fed and well rested before they arrive
- Before leaving home review appropriate theater behavior: listen to adults, be polite and helpful, use quiet “library voices” at all times, be kind to castmates, do your best on stage….and “break-a-leg”!
Tech Rehearsal
All cast members will be seated in backstage when not rehearsing.
- Send your child in comfortable street clothes, closed-toe shoes, with a jacket in case the theater is cold, and a mask
- Do NOT send your child in costume undergarments
Dress Rehearsal & Performances
All cast members will be backstage in dressing rooms when not performing.
- Send your child wearing a mask (optional on Sat & Sun), costume undergarments and appropriate shoes.
- Cast members should arrive with hair complete for their role, as specified here. Their face should be clean and makeup free. No need to bring additional makeup, hairspray, etc.
- Volunteers will be back stage to help students get into costume. Costumes go over undergarments and are put on in a co-ed dressing room.
- Cast headshot photos are taken the night of dress rehearsal.
- Full cast photo following matinee performances.
- A video of each cast performance is taken on Saturday.
Lion King Program Announcements
Program Announcements can be placed by family and friends who want to make their cast member feel special. All program announcements offset the cost of this amazing production, and aid in our continued success.

Break-a-Leg Shout-Outs – $4 each or Three Shout-Outs for $10
- A section of the program is reserved for personal “Break-a-Leg” messages from family and friends, or you may choose to send a special message to a fellow cast member. At such a low cost, have some fun and get more than one.
- Break-a-Leg Shout-Outs are text only. They can contain a maximum of 80 characters.

Shining Star Dedications – $25
- Make an impact with a personal dedication to your favorite cast member. You provide the sentiment and photo for the program dedication – and then wait to see the surprise on your star’s face!
- Shining Star Dedications are 1/3 of a page and print in black and white. They include a photo you submit as well a special message to your Cast Member(s).
Business Ads are also available for purchase in the program. Download order and pricing info here or email programs@goldenproductions.org for pricing and assistance. Business ads range from $25-$300. The price of ads goes directly towards our productions costs, we’d love to have your support for the continued success of the Golden play!
Lion King Jr. Costumes
While there is still several weeks until performance week arrives, please review the following information and make sure you have all the necessary items for your child.
Beginning on the first night of Dress Rehearsal cast members will need to have appropriate undergarments and shoes when they arrive at the theater.

Please find your role(s) below and begin collecting your costume pieces early.
Undergarments are necessary because everybody may change costumes in a large, public, co-ed dressing room. Please, no midriffs.
- Fitted undergarments help to ensure nothing is bulky and seen underneath the costume.
- Tan jazz shoes or tan/brown sandals, (no flip flops!)
- Children might want a sweater/sweatshirt to wear as they come and go from the theater.
Hair: Head dresses will be a part of the costumes, therefore, girls with long hair should wear 2 french braids that can be easily tucked into the head dress.
K-3 (Prideland Animals): light colored tank top, light colored shorts, tan jazz shoes or tan/brown sandals
4-6 (Lionesses): light-colored tank top, light-colored shorts tan jazz shoes
4-6 (Hyenas): dark/black-colored tank top, dark/black-colored shorts, tan jazz shoes or tan/brown sandals
